Hollywood is the northern end of the coastal side of our area, and it splits neatly in two.
East of Federal it is older, closer to the water, and salt-affected — smaller lots, mature sea grape and coconut, and boundary planting that has to take wind. Those are the conditions we work in on Key Biscayne and the Beach, and the same plant list applies.
West of Federal, out toward Pembroke Pines, it opens up into standard South Florida suburb: bigger back yards, screened pools, St. Augustine, and a lot of houses whose landscaping is whatever the builder put in thirty years ago. That is transformation work, and it is usually the cheapest big improvement available to a house of that age.
Hollywood is also full of duplexes and small rental blocks, and we take that work on. A frontage that is cut, edged, mulched and washed on a schedule rents better and costs less over a year than an emergency tidy-up between tenants.
